Perfume Cost Per Wear Calculator

How it works

The price on the bottle is not what a perfume really costs you. What you actually spend is the price divided by how many times you will wear it. A costly bottle worn every day can work out cheaper per wear than a cheap bottle worn twice a year. Enter the price, how much perfume is in the bottle, how many sprays you use each time, and how often you wear it, and this calculator does the honest maths.

Your cost per wear

How to read your result

  • Under about $0.50 per wear, a perfume is strong value for money if you love the scent.
  • Between about $0.50 and $1.50 per wear is the normal range for a designer bottle worn regularly.
  • Above about $3 per wear, you are paying special occasion money. That can be worth it, just know that is what it is.
  • The maths assumes roughly 10 sprays per ml, which is the usual estimate. Real sprayers vary, roughly 8 to 12 sprays per ml, so treat the result as a close estimate, not an exact figure.
  • Wearing a bottle more often is the fastest way to cut its cost per wear. The bottle on your dresser you actually reach for beats the one saved for best.
